Christian Bale returns as Bruce Wayne, a billionaire by day and a heroic human bat by night. After bringing crime almost to a halt in Gotham City, Batman is faced with a sinister being who calls himself ‘The Joker’ (Ledger). This pathological lying villain has no boundaries, no rules and no remorse. The Joker’s one goal is to kill the Batman and restore chaos and crime to Gotham. Batman takes a reserved approach until he is threatened with the loss of his love, Rachel Dawes (Gyllenhaal).
One word, wow. There is really no reason for you not to see The Dark Knight. Actors and characters aside, the action will get your adrenaline going and make you forget the long running time. The writers have performed miracles creating such bold, memorable characters and adding so much depth to each role. The IMAX filmed scenes were a first of its kind and it makes such a drastic difference when you watch Batman move through Gotham City whether it be for battle or a chase. After all the goodness seeping from this film, I didn’t understand the cheesy tone Batman was using, it was hard to take him seriously with his horse tone. Each actor has been praised over and over again and it was amazing to see such a high-profile collaboration of actors. Ledger’s performance is defiantly memorable, unique and jaw dropping. Although The Joker is a deranged, evil criminal, he is also witty with his comments and body language. There is no one else who could have performed this role half as good. The tenacity exuded by Heath will be appreciated by all for many years to come.
