Released: 21st January 2010

Loved director, Guido Contini (Day-Lewis) returns to the lime-light after the failure of his previous films. His producer talks up his film so much that the hype places him under a great deal of pressure seeing as there is no script. Trying to release himself from the stress at the same time as coming up with an idea for his new movie, his philandering ways will impress no-one and only cause him to realise his position in life and what needs to change.

The ‘Chicago’ director has scored himself another big hit with an A-List cast, catchy songs and a well written script. The talent for song and dance has made all our jaws drop especially Kate Hudson whom even the director had no idea concealed that kind of ability. Nine is more on the art side of life which I love but during the film I turned to my left, he was sleeping. I turned to my right, he was sleeping too! The music for the film was highly entertaining and only edged along the border of those musical moments where you wish they wouldn’t break into song. I am not a huge fan of Cruz but she was actually funny. Due to the mass of people in the film you have to keep up with the relationships. The only questionable relationship being the one between Contini and Claudia (Kidman). Are they platonic or ex-lovers? Who cares, with a wife like Luisa (Cotillard) you can’t help but take extra notice of her feeling slightly remorseful for her and then realise the light of the movie is on her. She was definitely the show stealer! Oh and Dench, always a classic!
