THE ROAD, (Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel), directed by Queensland born / Canadian-raised director John Hillcoat is almost beyond superlatives – adjectives seem trite. Viggo Mortensen is so believable, as he descends into both a physical and mental hell defending his son, I simply could not take my eyes off him, which is not to say less of the other actors – young Australian actor, Kodi Smitt-Macphee as the boy is superb, Robert Duval turns a cameo role into a stunning morality lesson for all humanity and Nick Cave gives great music, (Hillcoat and Cave previously made THE PROPOSITION). There is nothing more to say about it, other than you cannot miss this film.
