Martial Arts fan, Jason (Angarano) spends most of his spare time indulging in his hobby. At an unexpected moment an ancient artefact takes him back in time with the purpose to return the artefact to its rightful owner. On his travels to find the owner he will assume two teachers, Silent Monk (Li) and Lu Yan (Chan). Together they will team up with Golden Sparrow (Lui) to restore the power of the artefact to the Monkey King (Li).
I must admit I have been raised on martial arts movies and come to love them and I was really excited to hear Li and Chan starring together. The fight scenes were choreographed so well you can’t help but be envious! Li’s character was somewhat silly though and I kept thinking back to ‘Monkey Magic’. I was rather disappointed with his role, it was too corny and overdone. Chan has not disappointed the crowd to this day and I love his diversity with each character he performs. The fight scenes were fast but the way they have been captured on film allows you to follow each sequence like an art piece. I expected more of a journey/adventure but it only took me half way to my expectations.
