The last week of spring is an “Order Week” in the family home. If there has been little time for Decluttering follow my “12 Easy Tasks” to create “Order”. It is important to have things in some position or “order” so you know the quantity you are storing.
12 Easy Tasks for Order Week
-
Organise the fridge, adjust the shelves and place things where you use them. Label the containers. Check the use by dates. Use up the older products in the next week or two. Then restock the shelves.
- Organise the freezer.
- Create “order” in the food and drinks cupboards. Write a menu for the next week and a shopping list as you go. Plan a menu for Christmas around what you find.
- Create “order” with bathroom products. Use baskets, boxes or containers to put related products together. Hair, foot, hand, face, teeth, sunscreens, insect repellents etc. Now collect from every area of your living – the handbag, sports bag, glove box of the car. How many do you have? Use the oldest and least full first. Do you have too much?
- Order in the laundry. A bucket for the regular products, mits etc. Decant products that are the same. Reduce the rags to one bag.
- Order under the kitchen sink. Some products may need to go to the laundry or shed.
- Create “order” with animal food and products. Don’t like it? - then recycle to someone else’s pet or to the refuge.
- Check last years Christmas List. Make a new list.
- Collect all Christmas presents, cards and wrapping paper together. Match presents with people on your Christmas list. If you are never going to use it and it is still good take it to your nearest charity shop.
- Order all your “videos” (do you still have a player?) DVD’s, CD’s. Do you need them/ will you watch /listen to them?
- Toys. Give your child a shopping bag and ask for 5 items for “Santa’s Helpers” This will make way for Christmas presents. Look at oversized, awkward to store or multi parts items that have been driving you mad. They were great when first purchased but everyone is a year older and wiser. Recycle. Don’t forget to add new batteries.
- Ask your family to choose the jobs they would do for you before Christmas. Get them to commit to the tasks of washing windows, mowing lawn, babysitting etc. Then book any services you need from outside contractors.
I hope you enjoy the Festive Season knowing you have “Order” in areas of your home.
