Check out these fantastic stats that I found, from a recent survey conducted by Virgin. I'm sure we can all say we've done one of the following, thanks to our ever increasing reliability on our mobile phones these days.

•10% of young Australians have been involved in a break-up as a result of text-checking.
•59% of text checkers check their partner’s phone when they’re in the shower.
•Women (38%) are more likely than men (28%) to check their partner’s texts.

These results come from a recent study to do with phones and text messaging. I'm guiilty of checking friends and boyfriends phones, but I blame my curious mind!

Furthermore, it was uncovered that 900,000 of us check our partner’s phones and that Australia is a nation of paranoid text checkers with over one in three young Australians admitting to checking their partner’s text messages, and more than 280,000 having been being involved in a text-checking related break-up.

What I think is funny, is that I am sure we have all done it, but blatently deny it, when someone asks what you are doing on someone elses phone.

And finally...
•76% of text checkers do so in secret.
•73% of secret text checkers have found out things they later wished they hadn’t.
•44% of sneaky text checkers have discovered flirtatious or sexual texts, ranging from harmless flirtation (32%) to full blown sexual texts from someone else (19%).
•The most common places text checkers operate is while their partner is in the shower (59%), whilst in the same room (41%) or on the toilet (35%)

Who's going to own up to their secret text checking, or have you ever been sprung checking your friends or partners text mesages - are you still friends now?

I am guilty of text checking!
I do it a bit actually, but I hate it when people do it to me though!

I also can't go anywhere without my phone!

We are a cheeky bunch aren't we. I love the old text message check. Of course girls are more likely to check their boyfriends messages.

Oh this annoys me so mcuh.
I have one friend who is such a nosy parker, she is always checking peoples phones, and then denies it. I don;t really have anyhting to hide on my phone, so it doesn't really bother me, but it's still not cool.

You wouldn't want to be cuaght checking her phone though - you'd probably be killed right there and then. If she could permanently have her phone attached to her ear with an automatic text typer, she would.

We are becoming so reliant on our phones as a way of communicating, and our whole social life seems to revolve around our phones. argh!

I got caught checking an ex's phone. Excuses only work the first few times.

I wasn't 'checking up on her' I was just curious.

Difference yeah?

Guilty!!! As much as I hate to admit it, I am guilty. I occasionally check my sons text messages when he is in the shower. I do this becuase it gives me an opportunity to check up on what he is up too, and also, it gives me some clues on how to breach a particular conversation about a touchy subject.
