A brave and heroic dog sniffed out survivors from concrete, rubble and debris. Due to his keen nose and brave nature he saved the lives of many victims.

This dog is a HERO and has been admired in his own right. People loved him so dearly, that after his death, they have celebrated the idea of his body being cloned.

This raises many moral and ethical questions. Many movies like Gattaca (1997) and The Island (2005) have struck fear and debate on this question which is now turning to reality. Countless books and publications have addressed the idea as science fiction, but it is now becoming very real.

If you clone a dog will the dog have the same spirit, determination and character of an animal who has already lived using that same D.N.A? Will the dog be able to live the same kind of life, and make the same choices? Or should the hero be allowed to rest in peace?

Is it fair on a young puppy to have this kind of expectation loaded on his life? Especially when he may not experience the same upbringing or gain from the same obedience and training as the original “Trakr” ?

Will the cloned puppy grow to become an honourable dog? What if the puppy grows to become a vicious and angry dog? Will this answer the lifelong question of whether we are a product of nurture or nature?

What do you think?
