Sharks may be killed in an effort to save human lives this summer. The WA Government's Shark Hazard Committee has revealed plans whereby sharks may be shot in the head if seen as posing a threat. As if this were not enough, the shark may also have its spinal cord severed and left to bleed to ensure it is dead.

This seems a little barbaric to me. In the past 20 years only 6 people have been killed in shark attacks in WA. Considering the thousands of people in the water every day in WA the chances of being killed by a shark are extremely small.

Do you think the WA government have gone one step too far?

Are sharks suffering a little from bad press?
