ARE YOU FIT, CRAZY AND UP FOR A CHALLENGE?
On 9th August 2008, one of Australia's most extreme endurance events is happening in Perth... PAINATHLON!
Painathlon was conceived by Notre Dame Medical Student Jonathan Hague in early 2007. His idea was to compile all the toughest fitness runs he had come to know round Perth during cross-training and combine them into one massive impossible event. The inaugural Painathalon took place in August 2007, with local Ironman Brad Hosking demolishing the field in just over 7.5 hours. The event was a great success and participants raised over $8500 for Variety WA children’s charity.
The total race distance is about 160km, made up of 117km cycling, 20km flat running and 23km of hellish hill climbs! Competitors must attempt 10 of Perth's toughest physical challenges:
1. Groyne Runs
2. Reabold Bolt
3. Cardiac Hill
4. Mount Pain
5. 10km Bridges
6. The Truth
7. Quadcruncher
8. Valley Runs
9. 7km Painultimate
10. Jacobs Ladder
Sound easy? There's a catch - competitors have to cycle from one challenge to the next and complete the race in under 10.5 hours.
For more information or to donate, see the Official Painathlon website.
If you want to enter the challenge, then you can head to the website, but your entry has to be in by the end of today!
