This video has been on you tube for like 2 months now, but PerthNow are claiming it's because of a video they revealed of the patrol car doing "fully sick" donuts in a Carnamah paddock that the police officer has been suspended from duty!!

The 30 y.o. first class constable and his 25 y.o wife and police partner were filmed with sirens blaring in a PADDOCK adjacent to the Carnamah showgrounds after members of the North Midland Agricultural Show show asked him to put on the display. The constable is/was a pursuit qualified driver waiting to be transferred to Perth.

The assistant commissioner Graeme Lienert says the suspension was necessary because the "police officer's actions reflects all the wrong things that are occurring in WA at the moment, including hoon driving, risk on roads and larrikinism". "It's exactly the kind of behaviour we're trying to discourage on WA roads".

Hello??? He wasn't on the road, he was in a paddock, presumably knowing what he was doing... I don't know, I'm sure there will be loconutters out there that reckon it's good that this guy has been suspended and will possibly lose his job (the investigation continues), but I think this is ridiculous, meh.

This is a prime example of the media actually causing controversy for it's own gain (to sell papers, etc).

The police officer is probably on paid suspension - and in six weeks when we're all fixated on the next "drama bomb" from The Sunday Times he will be put back on active duty and resume his life.

By the way - the poor kid who uploaded the footage is probably feeling very guilty right now. I feel for the police officer and the community.

Oh, and I believe this was on "Fear Tonight" *cough* I mean Today Tonight as well.

Cool vid btw.
