Are you a budding film maker, director or story teller? You could help to preserve history.

Indigenous Community Stories aims to fund the gathering of 100 stories and digitally archive them so they can be viewed over the next 100 years and beyond. They will enable Indigenous communities across Western Australia to record, archive and maintain their culture through professional broadcast-quality digital video recordings.

Indigenous Community Stories is a partnership between ScreenWest and the Film & Television Institute. ScreenWest and FTI have a strong history of supporting Indigenous storytelling and this project aims to maximise opportunities to develop and advance Indigenous filmmaking and storytelling in Western Australia.

FTI is seeking expressions of interest from filmmakers interested in crewing for the Indigenous Community Stories initiative.

Any queries regarding crew positions on Indigenous Community Stories, please contact the Indigenous Community Stories Producer/Coordinator, Janine Boreland at FTI (08) 9431 6713 or via email - janine_boreland@fti.asn.au

Sounds like a fantastic idea - there needs to be a way that we can keep these stories 'alive' for the next generation, and also for others to see.

What a great thing to do.

Australian culture is slowly fading away, so to be able to put these together to keep for a long time, is a very good thing.

It will also give young people the chance to be involved in creating it as well - and that is good.

My son recently did an assignment on Aboriginals, mainly David Wirrapanda, and I found it facinating. There are some great stories out there to be told, and I think this is a good idea. In years to come, Aboriginal culture will be really important to our younger generation.

I'm all for it. Pity I don't have any 'producing' skills or have ever been inolved with film, otherwise I would love to be part of it.

I'm not a film maker, so I guess I'll have to pass.

I hope it all gets up and running soon, as it will be an important part of history when it's finished.

So are these going to be interviews or re-enactments?
