Telstra's much-hyped Next G network has been given the thumbs down from WA users, with many struggling to get reception in regional areas.
Many people reacted in disbelief to Telstra's announcement that it had "achieved the milestone of the same or better coverage on the Next G network as on CDMA”.
“I used to get a signal all the way to Bussleton with a little magnetic antenna on the car with CDMA but this Next G doesn't seem to travel far,” he says.
However Ray Philp, Telstra’s General Manager for the Great Southern region, says the problem is not with the network itself but with the handsets people are using to connect to it.
Ray says that the reason the Next G experience has been disappointing for some people is that “some of the Next G handsets are not as good as the CDMA handsets”.
