Uniswim is an aquatics program within the School of Human Movement & Exercise Science (HMES) at The University of Western Australia (UWA). In January 2004 Claremont Uniswim became UWA Uniswim Swimming Club to formally recognize the links with the University of Western Australia . UWA-Uniswim is a supportive and welcoming Club. The club caters for the whole spectrum of swimmers, from the aspiring Olympian, national, state and school swimmer and the "just for fun" splashers. All can experience and feel the strong bond that has developed over the last 100 odd years.
More recently, the University of Western Australia has assumed a larger role in sporting services throughout the western suburbs. Challenge Stadium at UWA Sports Park is build on UWA land and the UWA is more conscious of its "branding" in this area.
Hence, it was decided to recognize the significant contribution UWA had made to Claremont-Uniswim over more than 20 years by changing the name of the Club to UWA-Uniswim. This, in some way, provided a less territorial nomenclature to the Club with members coming from Nedlands, Claremont, Dalkeith, Subiaco, Mount Claremont , Cottesloe, Swanbourne, Shenton Park and Jolimont.
Thus, in January 2004 Claremont-Uniswim officially became UWA-Uniswim.
Please enjoy your time with the club. The part you play now may become the history of tomorrow. Participate in as many events as you can, share your ideas and concerns with the committee, and above all - be the best swimmer you can!
