Honest!After tasting much of the coffee in Queensland (and not liking it) we moved to WA in 2000 and discovered terrible coffee existed coast to coast in Australia. Fortunately the last eight years have been happy ones for the Perth Coffee scene as more and more West Aussies wake up to the fact that life is too short to drink bad coffee.Freshly roasted coffee was hard to get so I started learning how to roast my own. At the same time Perth has gained a collection of some of Australia's best artisan roasting companies and a new awareness of the need to use coffee the right way. Barista training has improved and there is now an elite group of professional baristas operating in WA. I thought this was worth celebrating and started the food and coffee blog "Cafe Grendel" to keep West Aussies up-to-date with the specialty coffee activities.Currently as well as writing my blog I am continuing experiments in micro-roasting and the construction of micro-roasting equipment.
