Youth Activities Update Hello from Christine, the Irwin Shire youth activities coordinator.
I host a youth drop in centre from 3pm to 6pm every Wednesday for year 4 and older and every Friday for year 7 and older. We meet at the drive-in cinema canteen and spend our time making art, listening to music, playing games, dancing and developing our sport skills. Free to attend and free popcorn with $1 drinks, so please come hang out with us.
The Dongara Drug Action Group will meet at a NEW TIME beginning in September. We will meet on the first Monday of every month at 7pm beginning Monday 6 October. We want to have a membership that represents a larger part of the community, so people age 20 to 100 are strongly encouraged to come develop drug education plans for Dongara with us.
The Youth Advisory Council meets on the first Monday of every month 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the Shire council chambers. We need more members year 8 and older.
The YAC will host a Bad Taste Ball on Friday 19 September to kick off spring break. $3 to attend, $2 snacks and drinks with a prize for the worst dressed!
The Dongara drive-in cinema season opens on Saturday 27 September. Come support this special attraction! We will run a new movie on the last Saturday of every month through April 2009.
Cheers- Christine Jarvie
