Greg Ross is a grandfather (very young!) who should know better and does, but loves life just the way it is. A much loved mentor, (now sadly gone to that great classic car wine bar in the sky), would often refer to him as the "Minister for Good Times," he finds it an honourable and very comfortable hat.
A marketing, PR and sales consultant, freelance photo-journalist (motoring, boating, music, theatre and travel) and occasional roadtrain driver, he loves photography, writing, theatre, motorsport and rugby union. A past finalist in the annual Maj Monologues competition, he's now five years ... oh alright, six ... overdue with a book on his motoring life - things keep happening!
’In years gone by, there were events galore for the Bentley Drivers Club, he dreamt up the concept for the annual "Matso's Classic Car Run" through the Kimberley each year and later established the inaugural "Theo's Run," now run by the Dowerin Car Club.
Other interests include music, the Kimberley, theatre - occasionally treading the boards as an amateur (very!) actor, painting (well, he’s completed one set of lessons ... there's a very long way to go!) and has an absurd wish (a complete lack of talent!) to form a cover band doing Leonard Cohen songs.
Business occasionally takes a back-seat for time-out at the wheel (on a fine day!) of LARRIKIN, his pristine 1969 Ford Fairmont (fire-engine red with a black vinyl roof) or A MUSE, his limited edition Black Widow Honda cruiser motorbike.
2010 is looking fascinating - although partner Ann-Kristin had to fly home to Germany in March (the Thesis MUST be finished, or there will be no Masters for Ann!), they are plannning to meet in Germany during August - for the Berlin Leonard Cohen concert and to go visit the Octopus, as well as German friends. Ann will be in Perth in November, just in time for Cohen's Perth concert.
After finishing playing the role of Pete in Justin Flemings' fabulous play BURNT PIANO (at Garrick Theatre), acclaimed director, actor and playwright, Edgar Metcalfe invited Greg (accepted with delight), to play the role of Frank (Baden-Powell) in his new play WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE (Dolphin Theatre). The season's just finished, now he's got a life back!
He's recently ridden the Black Widow to Broome, (story in the September issue of Australian Road Rider magazine), organising a future photographic exhibition, flown home and straight over to Melbourne, (for a friend's 50th), then up to Sydney, spending a weekend with wonderful friends Dennis and Estelle, in the Southern Highlands.
The future? Who knows! But some things are certain - life is a magical journey, work is good for the soul and family and friends are the essential essence,
All Good Things
Greg
