Loconut is excited to welcome the award-winning Jason Chatfield as our resident cartoonist. Based in Perth, Jason has extensive experience in publishing, as Perth's premiere Live Caricaturist at Perth events, and produces Gift Caricatures for private and business clients. At 18, Jason was made a Full Member of the Australian Cartoonists' Association. He was the winner of the 2005 Australian Bill Mitchell Award for "Best Up-and-Coming Cartoonist in Australia" at the 21st Annual Stanley Awards. In 2006, the late cartooning legend Paul Rigby organised for Jason to meet and learn from the industry's best in New York. Since then, Jason has been elected the Vice President (WA) of the Australian Cartoonists' Association, and at 23, is now the National Deputy President.
Jason is also a stand-up comedian, performing at every comedy venue in Perth on various weeknights. He is a 2008 RAW Comedy semi-finalist.
In December 2007, Jason was chosen by the late James Kemsley to be the 5th Cartoonist to draw the 86-year-old Ginger Meggs comic strip, which appears in over 120 papers in 30 countries around the world.
