LIMA, PUNO, CUSCO AND MACHU PICCHU

10 Days / 9 Nights

Day 1: Lima

As soon as you arrive in Lima, our staff welcomes and picks you up transferring from the Lima airport to your hotel. You'll have the rest of the day to relax and explore the city. Overnight in Lima.

Day 2: Lima ? Puno (B)At a previously arranged hour in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in order to start the city tour. This morning you'll enjoy downtown Lima where you will visit the Cathedral, the Catacombs, the Main Square, the ?Plaza San Martin? and the San Pedro church. After enjoying the amazing architecture of Lima, you will have a transfer out to the airport in order to board an afternoon flight to Puno. Our staff in Juliaca airport will welcome and transfer you to your hotel in Puno. You'll have the rest of the day for acclimatization, relax and explore the city for yourself. Overnight in Puno.

Day 3: Puno ? Uros and Amantani Islands (B), (L), (D)

You'll be picked up from your hotel around 8:00 am, after 2 hours in a motorboat you will arrive at the Uros islands. Fishermen and hunters inhabit this floating islands. The residents use the Totora a type of straw which grows in the lake, and which is used to create the conditions that ensure the islands will stay afloat. The roofs are waterproof and the houses are extremely humid because of the surrounding water. At the present time they speak Quechua and Aymara., then you will visit Amantani Island on Lake Titicaca with a population of 3,500 Quechua inhabitants. It is known for its two pre-Inca temples dedicated to the earth's fertility. Built on different hills, these places are sacred and ceremonial rituals are still performed by "Andean Yatiris". Amantani's range of magnetic field is unusual, and the residents renowned for their gentleness. You can be strolling the streets to get a sense of their culture. There will be plenty of opportunities to purchase their woven textiles, pottery and straw baskets. Your motorboat will take you to the natural island of Amantani where you will spend the night with a local family. Your host will provide you lunch and dinner.

Day 4: Amantani and Taquile Islands ? Puno (B), (L)

After an Andean breakfast in your host family's home, we will take a boat to Taquile island which is as important as Amantani in terms of its landscape and the ethnic customs of the inhabitants who still abide by their traditional, ancestral customs. On the islands of Amantani or Taquile the people offer lodging and food in their own houses. After lunch we will return to Puno by boat which takes between three to four hours.

Day 5: Puno ? Cusco (B), (L)

After breakfast in your hotel you'll be boarding a tourist bus that will be taking you to Cusco. During the trip you will visit different archaeological sites. Your first stop will be the town of Pukara. At Pukara the Pre-inca culture of the same name ruled prior to when the Incas conquered the area. Your next stop will be the town of Sicuani where you will enjoy a typical buffet style lunch. After lunch, you will visit the ruins of Raqchi where the temple of the Wiracocha deity is located. Your next stop will be the town of Andahuaylillas. At Andahuaylillas, you'll visit the church known as the Sixtine Chapel of South America. Arriving in Cusco at around 5:00p.m. Our staff will reception and transfer you to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 6: Cusco (B)

You will have a free morning to acclimatize and enjoy the city, by the afternoon you'll start a guided city tour visiting the most important places of Cusco. This tour begins at 14:00hrs. and you will visit the following sites: Cathedral, the Temple of Qoricancha, and the Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay. This tour will let you learn about the Inca culture as well as some aspects of the conquest of the Inca?s Empire and the colony. The tour will finish around 18:00hrs. back to your hotel. Night in Cusco.

 

Day 7: Cusco ? Sacred Valley of the Incas (B)

 

Early in the morning after your breakfast, we'll pick you up from your hotel in order to start a guided tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our guide will explain you about all the archaeological sites history during the trip; you will visit the ruins of Pisac and the Indian market of the same name. After lunch, (this lunch is not included), you will visit the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo and finally visit the incredible Inca ruins of Chinchero. You will be back in Cusco at around 7:00p.m. Overnight in Cusco.

Day 8: Cusco ? Aguas Calientes ? Machu Picchu ? Aguas Calientes (B)

Our transfer will pick you up from your hotel at 6:15 a.m. in order to board your train towards Aguas Calientes village. As soon as you arrive in Aguas Calientes at 10:50a.m we will take you to your hotel for the check-in and pick up your box lunch. Immediately you will board a bus to Machu Picchu where you will have a 2 hours guided tour of the most important rooms and temples, after this you will have a free time to explore for yourself around the city and then come back to Aguas Calientes when you decide. Once in Aguas Calientes village you can enjoy the hot springs. (The entrees to the hot spring is not included). You'll spend the night at your hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Day 9: Aguas Calientes - Cusco (B)

After breakfast you will board the train to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo village. Our staff will be waiting for you to transfer you to your hotel in Cusco, Overnight in Cusco.

Day 10: Cusco - Lima (B)

At a prearranged hour after breakfast we'll transfer you to the airport.
